National Indoor Climbing Achievement Scheme

The National Indoor Climbing Achievement Scheme (NICAS) is a UK wide scheme designed to promote climbing development and accredit individual achievement on artificial climbing structures. It can be used as a starting point for people wishing to take up climbing and mountaineering. Using a series of five awards of increasing technical skill. It is open to all candidates aged 7 and upwards. They are administered by the Association of British Climbing Walls [ABC] and delivered by primary centres (The Edge). And also endorsed by The British Mountaineering Council. [BMC]

The awards aim to accredit achievement in climbing and to provide a structure for learning best practice in the sport. The awards focus on skill development and safety and require the gaining of logged experience via completion of log books. [Getting Started]
